Fit Challenge Winners, Joann and Bill

Bill's Story

"I am living proof that the fit challenge offered by the Outdoor Adventure Fitness Club (OFAC) really works! When I started I was a 5' 11", 62 year old man that weighed in at 221 lbs and had a body fat of 26% -- quite honestly I was getting dangerously close to being truly obese. After the 6 week fit challenge I weighed in at 197 lbs, but more importantly I was down to 16% body fat - much more Normal for my height and age. True, I am still 62, but I really feel as good as I did in my late 30's - what a gift! I am absolutely certain that I could not have achieved these results without the program offered by OFAC. The exercise program offers a well-rounded breath of activities - Boot Camp, Cross Training, Hiking, Kayaking, Nordic Walking, Smart Bells, Trail Running, Pilates, Yoga and more. Along with this comes a nutritional program that gives you a basic diet (nutrition) along with weekly meetings that inform you about carbs, proteins and fats and give you additional insights into the physiology of proper diet (nutrition) in the presence of moderate exercise. And, lets not forget the other members and the friendships you develop and the encouragement that they offer. I had the additional benefit of doing this with Joann, my wife. We were there for each other throughout the program and it is just a great thing to do as a couple. We both now feel better and look better than we have in years. By the way, we have further committed to the club and fully intend to remain active members and continue to tighten, firm and be healthy and happy surrounded by our new friends. Elaine and Richard should be proud of the program that they have put together and the positive effects it has on the membership physically and spiritually - they are truly lifesavers! They have also put together a great shop that is truly a comprehensive resource of great outdoor, fitness and health oriented clothing, gear and nutritional products."

Joann's Story

"More than a few years ago I started to eat & eat & eat. I guess I thought I would always fit into those size 4 petite clothes that I have been wearing since my 20's. Recently, I realized I had rolls where my waist used to be and I was huffing and puffing whenever I took my dog for a walk in the hills near our home. At 62, I was worried about my health, but didn't have the ambition to start losing those extra pounds. My husband read about the Outdoor Fitness Adventure Club 6-week program and was interested in hiking the hills. I thought it might be fun, while trying to work off those rolls. I had no idea it included exercise AND a diet (nutrition) program. Once we committed to the six weeks, we knew we couldn't cheat. After all, we both knew it was for our own health and well-being. We spurred each other on to stick to the program for the entire six weeks and it worked! I lost weight, felt great, had no more aches or pains and I am now back into those size 4 clothes I couldn't for the life of me throw away! I don't think I could have done it without the support of my husband, Bill. Joining as a couple was a great experience. I loved the Monday night support group where I learned about carbohydrates, fats & protein. The best part was meeting and making friends with so many people who feel the same way we do about our health. I love the hiking, the pilates and yoga. We intend to continue our new way of eating and exercising with The Outdoor Fitness Adventure Club. And I intend to never forget that I am only as old as I feel - and I don't feel old anymore!"
